We have now moved into Gemini high season. While I love the earthy kindness of Taureans, they also know how to lead balanced lives and, even if they don’t, at least to keep their private affairs private, which doesn’t make the best press. Water and Earth signs tend to be a bit more laid-back than their fire and air cousins. Now that we have moved into Gemini, we have also moved back into a sign that doesn’t take any prisoners and is out there in a big way.
Joan has always been a bit cagey with giving the year of her birth. It is noted in most places as 1933, a date that came from a Barbara Walters celebrity special. That would place her stage debut at age 13. Astrodatabank, which is the gold standard of celebrity charts, gives her birth info its lowest rating of DD (Dirty Data). Without knowing her exact year of birth for certain, there’s very little we know for certain about her except her sign, Gemini, with a capital G.
Joan is the quintessential Gemini: sassy, unsentimental and driven. Geminis are sparkling like a freshly unpopped bottle of champagne, oozing sophisticated, biting wit and charm. They also have a unmerciful cruel streak if you cross them, but it is always done with humour. Gems often get mislabelled superficial, because they aren’t ones to cry in their beer, play the woe-is-me victim card, or take anything as sacred. Moreover, sentimentality is anathema to them. The truth is, Gems see the truth even in the darkest situation and their strong minds will allow them to see the cosmic joke of the grand human drama. It’s not that they lack depth, but that they are aware how ridiculous it all is, and you have to be pretty enlightened and evolved to get to that level of being.
The things about Geminis is that they are not just laughing with you, but at you, but they do the same to themselves too, and without maliciousness - humour is a mental thing for Gems.
Just because they prefer to fiddle while Rome burns, doesn’t make them heartless. If you are in a situation you can’t control, what’s the point of crying in your last minutes, when you can have some joy until the last second. This is the Gemini never-give-up survival mechanism, which often goes unseen, and which Joan Collins really represents.
I only got into Dynasty recently when a friend lent me the dvds. The fully-stocked bar at the office serving up the always-plentiful scotch at 9 am business meetings, the smoking, the fur, big hair, big dreams, big passionate love affairs….oh, those were the days…
