Yesterday we looked at adoption and how it is manifested in the 11th house. Angelina also has a busy 11th house, but it is part of a rare and complex astrological aspect: the mystic rectangle. The rectangle occurs when two pairs of opposing planets are connected by sextiles/trines amongst each other. While oppositions are normally challenging aspects, the sextiles draw them together to make a more harmonious and stable whole.

Yet rectangles also create this little fortress in the chart, the externalises and builds a brave face around the planets involved while masking an interior anxiety that is rarely shown.

Angelina’s rectangle consists of her Sun in the planet of adoption opposing Neptune in her planet of (natural born) children and childhood. She may be trying to get an identity as a mother that she was denied as a child, by constructing a perfect family which she never had while growing up. The other opposition is of Pluto in her house of the media and her Jupiter/Moon conjunction conjunct her MC, the point of fame, and in the house of foreign people. There are definite control issues.

However, as all these points form positive aspects amongst each other, they end up overcoming the stresses of the oppositions. The rectangle helps the person to overcome and resolve issues relating to the planets involved, and achieve a balance in their life. For Angelina, having lots of kids, adopting lots of kids, especially foreign ones, gives her a greater control in her life and a greater power in how she is perceived by the world.
