Judy Garland: Tragic Songstress
Sun: Gemini
Ascendant: Cancer
Moon: Sagittarius

It’s hard to believe that Judy Garland was just in her mid-40s when she died (46 in the clip above). Judy has Neptune in her second house of self-esteem. A Neptune placement here can almost dissolve one’s sense of self, but it also has it’s upsides in Judy’s case as it fueled her working life and allowed her creative gifts to shine as well as creating a very fascinating identity, as it forms a harmonious aspects to her 12th house Sun.

The Sun in the 12th house is not an easy placement, as there can be a tendency to deny the ego drive and keep one’s one self hidden away from public view, as a kind of mask. Judy’s Sun in this house, as well as her Mercury and Pluto, forming a t-square to Saturn and her Moon in her work sector, added to her sense of vulnerability. She may not have had the wherewithal to stand up directly and take control of her life against studio officials who controlled her and forced her to take diet medications that affected her moods and eventually got her hooked.

Neptune also rules addiction and marks how we escape from the stresses of our lives. If Judy was feeling down on herself, she may have added to it through drug and alcohol use, creating a vicious circle.
