Birthday Twins : June 12 : They Might Be Giants
Cats: birthday twins|John Linnell, They Might Be Giants:
Sun: Gemini
They Might Be Giants are one of the most fun and eccentric bands to emerge from the 80s. Linnell’s combination of quirky rythms mixed with odd subject matter and clever wordplay are symbolic of the Gemini approach. All too often Gemini’s get harnessed with the label superficial simply because they infuse a sense of fun and laughter and refuse to get bogged down by sentimentality. This is a bit unfair, because Gemini’s have such a remarkably deep insight and original view, they just can do it without searing self-pity and always manage to see the black humour of the situation. They Might Be Giants may come off as a novelty at first listen, but they have a really high-level of musicianship and lyrical ability.
