Birthday Twins : July 7 : Gyanendra of Nepal: Last King of Nepal and the Role of Astrology
Cats: birthday twins|Gyanendra, Last King of Nepal
Sun: Cancer
Ascendant: Unknown
Moon: Aquarius
Sometimes astrologers get it wrong; that’s why you may want to get a second opinion for really big decisions. King Gyanendra is the last King of Nepal. He was overthrown after massive protests instigated by Maoists rebels in reaction to the King’s authoritarian policies and his suspected role in the murder of his brother and his family, the former king.
In 2001, Gyanendra’s brother, Birendra, the king, his wife, their two children were murdered along with several other people, when their son, the Crown Prince Dipendra, entered the palace and shot them. He was a hard core drug user and killed his family because his mother refused to allow him to marry the love of his life because she was a few years older than him and of a lower caste. Dipendra later died ofa self-inflicted gun shot wound. Rumours abounded however that it was Gyanendra, not Dipendra, who was behind the murders. Feeding the rumours is the allegation that Dipendra was mortally wounded by a gunshot to the left side of the head, while Dipendra was right-handed. Some believe that this casts doubt on whether the injury was self-inflicted. Also, Gyanendra’s wife and child were in the room at the time, but both survived the attack with only mild injuries.
When Gyanendra was born, the court astrologer told his father it would be bad luck to look at him, so Gyanendra was taken to his grandmother’s to be raised. Well, the baby did bring bad luck to the kingdom, but his banishment from his father’s house may have well exasperated the difficulties to come. He has Saturn conjunct Pluto squaring Jupiter in Scorpio. Saturn represents the father in the chart, and there could have been a huge, deep resentment to the father which effected his own outlook on leadership.
Another astrology miscall regards Gyanendra’s brother. Birendra took over the kingdom in 1972, but didn’t have his official coronation until February 24, 1975 at 8:37 am. This time was chosen by an astrologer as being especially auspicious. Seeing as his reign ended in murder, that may not have been the best call…
Now it must be noted that Eastern astrologers use a completely different system and reasoning than Western astrologers. Looking at the selected inaugeration chart, there is a Grand Cross, a very challenging formation formed by Venus on the Aries Point, Saturn, Mars and Pluto which could signify violence and death, as well as an uprising against a paternalistic system and a hard time gaining love. There is also a challenging T-square of Uranus, Mercury and the Moon indicating a profound volatility. I would never have chosen this chart, I would have at least waited for the Moon and Mercury to have moved on. But again this is using Western Methods of analysis. By these, this is an awful chart. Especially when you consider, they waited three years in order to utilise this chart.
If the Nepalese court only had only had had another astrologer, who knows….
